Logistical planning for a trip is a lot of work, especially when it is a trip you have never done before. It is that detailed planning that can make a trip really easy and fun. Researching and learning about the nuances and details of your destination is time consuming and in the end, you still don’t know what you don’t know. We rely on guide books and internet searches to give us valuable information, yet they are a one-way conversation. You can’t ask a guide book for more details than what is on the pages. Then we ask our friends and their friends for more information. Sometimes they know a lot, and sometimes they don’t. But we all know there is nothing like conversing with a “salty old dog” who has been there and done it many times before to give you the beta you need. That is learning the smart way, not that hard way.
